Matcha Green Tea

A cute little green tea company that I came across recently is :
On their website you can order Matcha tea in small 1 oz. containers or in bulk, they also have a very cute page of recipes they've created using this tea. They may not be completely raw based but they've posted some super yummy recipes for green tea truffles, cupcakes, Pots de Creme, as well as shortbread cookies....love it!

My Newest Obsession :

Matcha Green Tea Powder

Matcha Green Tea is packed with superstar antioxidants found in green tea called EGCGs, studies have shown that the EGCG amount in Matcha green tea is 137 times the amount in normal green tea. You would have to drink 137 cups of normal green tea to get the same brain-health benefits from just one cup of Matcha.

EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant: besides inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, it kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue. It has also been effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels, and inhibiting the abnormal formation of blood clots. The latter takes on added importance when you consider that thrombosis (the formation of abnormal blood clots) is the leading cause of heart attacks and stroke.

It also has Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, E, K, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Calcium,       Magnesium, Iron ,ZINc, Copper, Protein, Fibre, Antioxidants, Beta Carotene, and Chlorophyll

According to researches done in Japan, Matcha contains nearly 10 times the polyphenols and antioxidants of regular teas, 2 times the antioxidants of a glass of red wine, approximately 9 times the beta-carotene of spinach, and 4 time that of carrots.

It also :
Improves mental alertness & energy
Increases calmness and reduces stress
Boosts metabolic rate by 35-40%
Powerful "Anti-Aging" activity due to the super-charged antioxidants
Lowers blood pressure

Decreases level of LDL or "bad"cholesterol
Minimizes symptoms of PMS
"Super" cancer-fighting and cancer-preventative activity
Eases constipation due to high level of easily absorbable dietary fiber
Stabilizes blood sugar levels
Powerful anti-biotic and anti-viral activity
Strong blood detoxifier and alkalyzer, due to the high Chlorophyll content

Matcha Frappe :
3 ice cubes
¼ cup coconut milk
¾ cup water
1 Tbsp. agave
1/2 Tsp. Matcha Green Tea powder

Matcha Green Tea Smoothie :
(I drink one of these practically everyday!)

1 tbsp. of matcha green tea
1 frozen banana
1-2 cups almond milk (depends on how thick you want it)
and alittle agave if you prefer

* You can also make this recipe into a soft serve green tea ice cream, just add less almond milk for a thicker consistancy
