Raw Vegan Pyramid

So....I've come to realize that there are a lot of people who do not know what it means to eat raw food and what the term "raw" really stands for, so I thought I should clear a few things up.

For my meat loving friends out there, I'm sorry to say in the raw food world ....there is no love!

- Raw food is made up of organically grown fruits, vegetables, nuts & seeds only. (Basically every form of food that you can find naturally, which has not been processed and its form has not been manipulated by man.)

- Meat and dairy are not raw foods

- Raw foods are not heated above 112 degrees,
therefore the enzymes are not destroyed in the cooking process

- Raw foods retain an enormously higher nutrient value than cooked foods (Enzymes aid in digestion and absorption of food, when food is cooked it cause toxicity in the body which can lead to illness)

- Alkaline PH is high in raw foods, which is ideal for optimal health, a body which is over acidic usually suffers from acute or chronic diseases

- Raw foods = food that is "alive" (in its purest form)

- Raw food is sometimes listed as a "diet" but it is definitely a life style (I will discuss this much further in my next post because it agitates me..)

  2. You are right--vegan raw food is not a "diet" but a lifestyle. I wish everyone could understand that. But you have explained things quite clearly! Love it!

Oh and I also love the "new" food pyramid, with all the x'ed out boxes! So true, so true! :D

I am happy to have found you! I'm going to follow! Talk to you again soon!

  3. Thanks for your positive comments and for following my blog, this whole "blog world" is so new to me as well as raw food.
I realized that there maybe some many other people out there that are curious about this lifestyle, since it is so different from the norm, and people tend to stray from different.
I wanted to create a space that everyone (esp. myself) can grow and learn about raw food and not be so scared of trying something different.
Thanks again, I have so many new posts coming up, and especially recipes that I hope you enjoy. If you have any questions too, feel free to let me know :)
